Diáfana is the adjective that defines someone whose clarity and transparency grant the permanent presence of light, and in the case of Julia Carrillo (Mexico City 1987), light has always been the disturbing element that directs her artistic practice through which invites us to discover the apparently imperceptible in each of her works, which combined with her arduous scientific research, are revealed in works that challenge our preconceived notion of art and expand our perception of it. The installations in the exhibition provide us with immersive states that take us away from the everyday life that is routinely offered in conventional art spaces, and like portals, they take us into mental places that transport us to new paradigms; which, until today, we have indolently ignored, distracted by the ideas sown throughout "educational" indoctrination. They wrap us in sensory phenomena that rescue and inform us, inviting us to restart our hard drive saturated by prevailing trends in art. Julia Carrillo in her DIÁFANA exhibition offers us not only the aesthetic pleasure of her creativity, but also requires us to be more than participants in her work, leading us to recover states of contemplation that lead us to live an experience that invites reflection, a intimate and introspective meeting, to create interior landscapes in which we can exist in parallel and not only be observers of the phenomenon but infinite extensions of it, as infinite is our imagination. The ethos of this exhibition can be summed up in one word, an adjective that accompanies us and is evoked in the presence of her works: Astonishment, that state of mind whose etymology defines what Julia Carrillo's work awakens, 'without a shadow'! the light!
