Press Release
September 23, 2021
The Elvira Moreno gallery has the privilege of presenting during the framework of the Bogotá Art Fair (ArtBo) and the traditional Open San Felipe event the individual exhibition of the master artist Jorge Riveros, a pioneer of geometric constructivist abstraction in Colombia, entitled “Constructive Forms, origins and progression”, the exhibition focuses on the most seminal creative period of his career with special emphasis on works made from the 1960s, the early 1970s, and today. The works, curatorially selected by our director and Jorge Riveros, focus on the primary use of wood as an element of creativity and support and comprise a hitherto unpublished series of woodcuts, columns and reliefs made in the noble material during his years as founder and member of the historic group Semikolon in the city of Bonn, Germany. Elvira Moreno Gallery, an avant-garde and contemporary space in the field of arts in Colombia, takes the leadership of artistic inclusion and transforms the traditional opening format of a gallery into a sensory experience introducing two performative acts inspired by the artist’s oeuvre and creative life during its opening day. The first, a dance entitled "Body and Geometry", created by the performer artist Liz Callejas and under whose direction, choreography and costume design is presenting an extraordinary immersive visual and auditory act, accompanied by a cello composition of spontaneous and in situ interpretation inspired in the live movement and geometry ambiance of the performative act, inciting sensory stimuli beyond the traditional visual aspect of an exhibit and establishing poetic bridges between the different artistic manifestos present in the space. In continuity with his most recent artistic performance focused on gastronomy, the opening act will be accompanied by a gastronomic performative experience led by the Professional Culinary Gastronomy program of the Faculty of Design, Communication and Fine Arts of the University Foundation of Areandina Through a menu also inspired by geometry, wood and the work of the master artist Jorge Riveros, where spices, liquors and non-traditional regional ingredients will be combined, articulating together with dance and the artworks an avant-garde culinary experience that will dialogue visually and tastefully. with the display.
