Luis Fernando Zapata is featured in the exhibition Dispossessions in the Americas: The Extraction of Bodies, Land, and Heritage from La Conquista to the Present, presented by Alphawood Exhibitions at Wrightwood 659, Chicago.
Curated by Jonathan D. Katz and Eduardo Carrera, the exhibition brings together 36 artists whose practices critically address the historical and contemporary dynamics of extraction and dispossession across the Americas.
Structured around three constellations—Territory, Body, and Cultural Heritage—the showcase provides a conceptual framework in which Zapata’s work functions as an exploration of colonial legacies and the symbolic configurations of memory and belonging.
