Ernesto Leal @ Tout Le Poids D’une Ile, Collectionner L’art Cubain. “All The Weight of An Island, Collecting Cuban Art,” is an initiative of the 40mcube Contemporary Art Center which brings together the Rennes Museum of Fine Arts @mbarennes , and the Passerelle art center in Brest, France. This exhibit offers the discovery of a patiently collecting Cuban art for more than thirty years by the Rennais’s scholar, writer, and collector François Vallée @franciscovalle272whose collection, with some 400 pieces of which only 130 are presented here, is marked by personal biases, the unusual vagaries of collecting, personal encounters, and exchanges with artists, it defies the way museums regularly gather works for their collections guided by specialists who put reason before passion. Noteworthy is the selection of @galeria_elviramoreno artist Ernesto Leal, whose inclusion is highlighted by featuring one of his iconic artworks as the exhibition's digital banner.
