Two artists are making their debut in Tate’s national collection through the 2026 Frieze Tate Fund, highlighting the importance of art fairs in connecting exceptional works with public institutions.
The acquisitions include Peace Unknown (2026) by British artist Michaela Yearwood-Dan, acquired from Hauser & Wirth at Frieze London, and Barge (1992) by Colombian artist Luis Fernando Zapata, acquired from Galería Elvira Moreno and Alonso Garcés Galería at Frieze Masters.
Bringing together richly layered surfaces, experimental materials and distinctive artistic approaches, both works expand Tate’s collection and celebrate the diversity of contemporary and historical artistic practices.
Since Frieze London launched in 2003, Tate has acquired more than 180 works by over 100 artists through the fair, making them accessible to audiences across the UK and beyond.
