Inside Frieze Week 2026: queer histories, new art and what first-time visitors need to know

Frieze London and Frieze Masters return this October. Here’s how the fairs work, what first-time visitors can expect and where queer histories appear in 2026.

In its guide to Frieze Week 2026, Flicker Magazine explores the queer histories and contemporary perspectives shaping this year’s art events in London. The article highlights Queering Modernism: Visual Languages of the 20th Century at Frieze Masters, a curated section examining queer experience and LGBTQIA+ representation across modern and postwar art. Among the featured works is Sarcofagi N°9 (1992–1994) by Colombian artist Luis Fernando Zapata, presented through a collaboration between Galería Elvira Moreno and Alonso Garcés Galería. The guide also offers an overview of queer-focused presentations at Frieze London and exhibitions across the city, alongside practical information for visitors.
