"Memory is an Editing Station"

Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil 40-year special

The 22nd edition brings together artists from the Global South and features a retrospective of Videobrasil's trajectory.

"Memory is an editing station" is the theme guiding the 22nd edition of the Biennial, which will open on October 18 at Sesc 24 de Maio, with works by 60 artists and collectives from 38 countries of the Global South, including a prominent presence of Latin American names.

Artistically directed by Solange Oliveira Farkas, founder of Videobrasil, and curated by Brazilian Raphael Fonseca and Kenyan Renée Akitelek Mboya, the 22nd Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil | Memory is an editing station occupies Sesc 24 de Maio, in the city of São Paulo, until February 25, 2024, raising contemporary themes in a post-pandemic world and reflecting on the history of Videobrasil itself – an event created in 1983 that is celebrating four decades of existence.
