For the second time, the Marabino artist residing in Aruba is invited to Red Lodge Clay Center for an artistic residency in the county seat of Carbon, Montana, USA.
For almost two decades, Red Lodge Clay Center has been a cabinet of wonders for knowledgeable collectors and an American platform for professional-minded ceramists worldwide to enrich their creative processes and have a place for creation. Short-term residency is ideal for ceramic artists looking to invest in their studio practice, complete a unique project, or need uninterrupted time to work in a well-equipped studio with a supportive community environment.
Acceptance into the program depends on an applicant's evident and developed skill in the work, the artist's ability to be self-directed with prior experience, and their knowledge of ceramic processes.
Samuel Sarmiento is a self-taught artist. 2010, he completed a master's in Artistic Production at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. He has participated in several individual and group exhibitions in Aruba, Venezuela, Spain, the Netherlands, Argentina, and China. His work comprises enigmatic characters, which gives it an air of incomposition, nonconformity, uncertainty, and a matrix of playful and unreal sensations. His work is the "pictorial equivalent" of his thoughts and beliefs about Caribbean folk tales. Represented in Colombia by Galería Elvira Moreno and in Venezuela by Cabinet Gallery, Samuel lives and works in Aruba.
