FORM AND forms
In the context of our exhibition, the theory of FORMS, a cornerstone of metaphysics, takes on a new significance. It posits that our physical dimension is an imperfect reflection of the dimension in which ideas exist. FORMS, often represented by a capital letter and known as 'Ideas,' are the non-physical, timeless, absolute, and unchanging essences of all things. This theory, attributed to Plato, suggests that FORMS are the only objects worthy of study and that knowledge stems from them.
Our proposal for ARTBO 2024 will assert that the philosophical idea, which implies that ideas born from artistic inspiration are only worthy of study and knowledge when physically realized, is a transformative concept. It challenges the conventional understanding of art and its study, opening new avenues for exploration and interpretation.
The Elvira Moreno Gallery will exhibit a series of works that not only invite reflection and subsequent research but also establish in their different manifestos a philosophical reference for each of the other spaces participating in the fair. This unique approach transforms the exhibition into a research laboratory, going beyond the commercial objectives on which similar events are based. We will focus on ceramics, textiles, and artworks with non conventional mediums that reflects on its use as new mediums in the 21st century. It's a joyous celebration, a profound appreciation of the extraordinary contributions and opportunities for reflection that ARTBO has directed, acknowledging the invaluable role of the audience in this journey.
At ARTBO 2024, the concept of FORM is not just an abstract idea but a tangible, experiential reality. It manifests itself physically through surface modeling procedures using physical materials, the body, and space. This physicality extends our perception, from the recognition of FORM to the decoding of information, the reading and understanding of form beyond its affiliation to ethnicities, materials, gender characterizations, region, affiliation, or socio-political message. In the sublime of its presence, we exist and in the reflections of its message our perception extends. Thus, we start from the idea to the physicality of the same and from there to the idea again, algorithmically expanding the presence of art in our existence, making the audience feel the art in a deeply immersive and tangible way.
