The Map of the Journey may well lie in El Camino de la Danta, a project in which the artist traces a fragment of the Milky Way on a fishing canoe brought from the Magdalena River. While in ancient Egypt this constellation was believed to be projected onto the Nile River, in Ticuna mythology, within the concept of El Camino de la Danta (“The Tapir’s Path”), the same celestial body is mirrored in the Amazon River—the waterway that flows through all worlds, even those of the stars. Beyond Egypt and the Amazon, Lagos has found many other territories where the navigator has unfolded his explorations.
