Miguel Cardenas Colombia, 1973

Cárdenas creates worlds in which creatures and landscapes of other-worldly provenance enter into fluid coexistence with strange architecture and impossible perspectives. His murals and sculptural interventions challenge established artistic languages—such as surrealism, modern painting, and street-art aesthetics—by re-visiting and re-interpreting them. The result is a visual vocabulary that offers a subtle critique of dominant forms of representation and crafts a personal narrative about the present while speculating on how the world will be perceived tomorrow.
