ETHOS
Journal Anual de la GaleríaThe Dictionary of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language defines "Ethos" as the "Set of traits and modes of behavior that make up the character or identity of a person or community." Ethos is part of the main strands of Aristotelian discourse that complements the notions of Pathos and Logos, fundamental referents of the legitimacy of the discourse, the predisposition of those who listen to it and its moral content. Ethos also corresponds to the moral behaviors that are projected through the deployment of our acts. The "ETHOS" exhibition reflects on our spirit as a Contemporary Art Gallery, in order to diagnose the actions, proceedings, in summary, all our operational, conceptual and strategic strength in order to reinforce our potential and contribute more and more to the cultural profile of the continent, offering our audiences symbolic and educational content of high level and impact. ETHOS is articulated through a curatorship that exerts significant links museographically through a selection of works by our represented artists and that reflect on the curatorial axes that until now have defined the language of our space. The subversive creation of dialogues that challenge censorship and oppression, modernist utopias and their disconcerting results, the investigation of alternative means of plastic expression, marginalized historical manifestos and self-taught genre creations, all of them accompanied by an undeniable force that is sublimely manifested in each of the selected works. Thus, ETHOS is configured as a space for the review of our offer that has occurred in the course of this last year in which we have grown together with our artists, collectors and audience. It is about exploring our own Zeigeist within the framework of this post-pandemic era, and in which the world is gradually finding its meaning and continuity. -
