Cartesian Landscaping (Paisajismo Cartesiano) explores the idea of landscaping and humanity's intention to order nature and set quantifiable limits through architecture and urban planning. The series evokes the modern landscaping of the first half of the 20th century, when figures such as Roberto Burle Marx tamed the tropical landscape in exuberant designs where geometric organic forms grouped the vegetation in harmony with the architectural volumes of the time. This photographic series emphasizes the composition of the image and the textures of the chosen plants, palms typical of modernist tropical gardens, which transport the observer to this historical period from black and white photography. Each of the black and white photographs is framed with translucent graph paper cut out in organic shapes.
